During your visit, you will see the beautiful Fair Forest transform into a battleground, discover how the American Revolution impacted life in the backcountry, and meet many of the very people whose lives were shaped by their answer to one crucial decision – Liberty or Loyalty?

Hours of Operation

Ticket sales stop at 4:00 PM each day to ensure guests have enough time to enjoy the full museum experience. Guests already in the museum may enjoy the experience until closing at 6:00 PM.

Carolina Rising is located at 210 North Limestone Street in Gaffney’s Historic Commercial District. Public parking is available throughout downtown Gaffney within walking distance to Carolina Rising. 

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Carolina Rising ADA Accessible?

Yes, guests with disabilities are welcome and accommodated for at Carolina Rising in accordance with the ADA. A lift is available to help guests move between the museum’s two floors. Wheelchair seating is available in the immersive theater.

Are strollers allowed at Carolina Rising?

Yes! A lift is provided in the foyer to help guests with strollers navigate between the museum’s two stories. 

What age-range is the content of Carolina Rising best suited for?

Carolina Rising uses adaptive technology to adjust the interactive content for all age ranges. Content will involve reading and speaking.

How long should I plan to stay in the museum?

Tickets are sold in 30 minute time blocks. We recommend allocating around 2 hours to enjoy the full content of the museum. Ticket sales end 2 hours before closing to ensure guests can enjoy the entirety of the museum’s content.

Are tickets refundable?

We are unable to refund tickets after purchase is complete, however, you may reschedule your ticket time if done at least 48 hours in advance. 

May I leave and return on the same day?

Due to the structured flow of the museum experience, and the time-block setup of each ticket, we are unable to accommodate reentry using the same ticket. 

Can I bring food or beverage into the museum?

To ensure that all guests can enjoy the technology and a clean museum experience, food and beverage is not allowed at Carolina Rising. 

Are service animals permitted?

Service animals, animals in training to be service animals or animals involved in museum programs approved by the museum are permitted at Carolina Rising. “Emotional support animals”, “comfort animals”, “companion animals”, and “therapy animals” that are not individually trained to do work or perform tasks for an individual with a disability are not considered service animals under the ADA. 

​The museum is not required to care for, clean up after, or supervise animals, including service animals.
